15% of U.S. population needs help to buy food

According to data from April 2011, nearly 46 million Americans, or 15% of the population, wouldn"t have been able to buy their daily supplies if it hadn"t been for food stamps, said the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday. This figure represents an increase of 2.5% from May 2010 to April 2011.
